Cadet Training Sessions

Cadet Training Sessions (£30 per driver)

If you are between the ages 8 – 13, why not book into one of our open training sessions, and receive basic kart training. We aim to provide an environment in which you can develop your skills to allow you to enjoy karting free from any pressure. Each driver will learn kart control at speed, picking the right racing line, pit lane training, rules and regulations.

In the interests of safety all Cadet racers need to attend a training session in order to be assessed. Anyone that has not been graded will be unable to participate in events and Arrive & Drive sessions.
Cadet drivers will be graded as follows:

Beginner – Attended training sessions and is considered able to attend Arrive & Drive sessions with other beginners. Not able to race.

Intermediate Stage 1 (cadet karts) / Stage 2 (adult karts) – Trained / assessed to the standard of kart control needed to kart at Wessex Raceway and able to drive with other drivers of a similar standard.

Wessex Raceway Young Gun Stage 1 (cadet karts) / Stage 2 (adult karts) – Fully trained to a high standard of kart control and able to race in the appropriate karts in open competitions & championship events.

As a Cadet driver you will receive a full Wessex Raceway licence when the race director is satisfied that:

1) You have the ability at speed to control and handle a kart during a practice session
2) You know all the rules and regulations
3) Your lap times are consistent

Parents are encouraged to watch from our elevated bar or trackside pit area.

If your child cannot attend during our official training sessions, we may be able to train them at other times for a £35 fee.
